Whether your child is ready for preschool, in junior high, or anywhere in between, we want to welcome you to TNT--Tuesday Nights Together! At MSW, we have TNT to help form children and families to discover the beauty of the Catholic Faith. We learn that through the Sacrament of Baptism we are brought into God's family and we help families on their journeys to be disciples of Jesus Christ. TNT is not only a pathway for sacrament preparation for your children, it is a place where you can discover authentic friendships with other families who desire to learn more about the beautiful plan God has for you and your family to make him known in your home.
"The family is experiencing a profound cultural crisis, as are all communities and social bonds. In the case of the family, the weakening of these bonds is particularly serious because the family is the fundamental cell of society, where we learn to live with others despite our differences and to belong to one another; it is also the place where parents pass on the faith to their children." Pope Francis, The Joy of the Gospel (Evangelii Gaudiuum 66)
This family-based program meets on campus roughly one Tuesday evening per month. The family is given at-home materials to work on together the rest of the month. Each family is invited to a Family Visit to determine the best pathway for your family's needs.
If you are not already a part of TNT, please reach out to learn more. Call the Office of Faith Formation and Evangelization at 847-825-8763.
MSW also offers the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) program. This methodology starts students in preschool or kindergarten and then has students consistently attend CGS sessions through 8th grade. If all of your children are younger, then CGS might be an option for you.
For TNT, because we are following a family faith formation model, it will be very rare that students will come without their parents. Remember, in a typical year (excluding your first year, Communion, or Confirmation prep year) this will only be 6-8 times a year. Our hope is that this program will give parents the tools to discuss the faith with your children and supplement those conversations when we are all together in a group.
The goal of the Family Visit, which is held in summer before sessions begin, is to allow us to know each family. By understanding their particular situation, we can create a custom pathway that will not only work for your family but that will allow us to support you on your pathway.
Due to a variety of reasons, we need to designate a night at the parish for family faith formation and Tuesday nights have been the historical night used in this area. As your family becomes acquainted with Tuesday Nights Together (TNT), you will likely only be on campus one Tuesday night a month during the school year, approximately 6-8 times annually. While you may need to be here more than that while you become acquainted with a family faith formation model or when your child is preparing for a sacrament, please know our goal is not to burden you with weekly sessions. Our Family Visits are designed to understand each family’s particular situation and to create a personalized pathway for you. We can talk about the particulars of your availability at the Family Visit.
Some TNT pathways will have break-out sessions for students separate from the parents. We encourage your family to treat weekly Sunday Mass as the “class” and use the family-based materials together in the home.
The Family Visit is designed to help us understand your unique situation. We look forward to meeting with you and your child and hope you will share any educational plans that have been prepared for your child. We feel confident we can work with you to create a personalized pathway that will not only work for your family but that will allow us to support you on your pathway.
Every family dynamic is different. Some families may desire to complete all the necessary preparations and may have the time to incorporate the active sacramental life necessary to prepare their child in second grade. For others, it may take longer due to not having previous formation. We need to meet with you to discover what will work for your family. Family Visits facilitate this process and allow us to create a custom pathway that will not only work for your family but that will allow us to support you on your pathway.
The goal of the Family Visit is to allow us to know each family and their particular situation so we can create a custom pathway that will not only work for your family but that will allow us to support you on your pathway. The preparation for Confirmation is a two-year process that typically starts in 7th grade. For others, it may begin later due to missing previous years of formation. The Family Visit will help us make this decision.
We do not feel family dynamics present barriers that completely block the ability for a family to grow in faith. However, we acknowledge that for some families it may feel like it, and many families have real challenges. We want to support you in the life your family experiences. Please email or call the Director of Faith Formation and Evangelization, Dolly Pointner, at [email protected] or 847-825-0048 to not only discuss how we can help you, but how we can pray for you and your family.
First Reconciliation is celebrated prior to First Communion. Students typically begin preparing in the 2nd grade, after having at least one year of faith formation. For more information please contact Dolly Pointner at 847-825-0048 or [email protected].
