The liturgical life of the Catholic Church revolves around the Eucharistic sacrifice and the sacraments. The purpose of the sacraments is to make people holy, to build up the body of Christ, and finally, to give worship to God.
Baptism is the beginning of our faith and our gateway into the Church. In Baptism, the Holy Spirit moves us to answer Christ’s call to holiness. We are asked to walk by the light of Christ and to trust in his wisdom. We are invited to submit our hearts to Christ with ever deeper love.
Mary, Seat of Wisdom celebrates the baptism of every individual with joy.
To help you navigate the process of baptism at MSW, whether it is for an infant, youth or as an adult, we suggest you contact us to help you understand the process and the requirements. Parents of infants and children attend a Parent Formation Session at least a month before the baptism and are provided with resources to complete at home through a series of family meetings. These resources help the parents choose godparents that will help them raise their child up to be a disciple.
To schedule participation in a Parent Formation Session, please contact the Parish Office at 847.825.3153.
The Eucharist is the greatest of all the sacraments because, as the very substance of Jesus Christ himself, the Eucharist enables a personal encounter with Jesus.
For Youth
Our Office of Faith Formation and Evangelization coordinates preparation for students attending both the parish school and the Religious Education program.
For Adults
Adults seeking membership in the church, or to receive Eucharistic preparation should inquire about the OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults) program.

For Youth (7th and 8th Grade)
The Confirmation preparation process invites young people in 7th and 8th grade to deepen their relationship with God by opening themselves to a greater outpouring of gifts of the Spirit in their lives. Through this sacrament young people are more closely joined to Christ and the Church, and they are sent to be witnesses to the world of God's saving love. Preparation begins in the fall of 7th grade and continues for two years. The candidates receive the sacrament of Confirmation in the spring of 8th grade. Our Office of Faith Formation & Evangelization coordinates preparation for students attending both the parish school and the Religious Education program.
For Adults
Confirmation deepens our baptismal call to be witnesses of Jesus Christ in the world. In receiving the sacrament of Confirmation, we are strengthened by the Holy Spirit to build communities of love and service. If you were baptized Catholic, received First Holy Eucharist, and were educated in the faith – yet never received the sacrament of Confirmation – we invite you to consider participating in this sacrament.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is one of the most unique and beautiful aspects of Catholicism. Jesus Christ, in His abundant love and mercy, established the Sacrament of Confession, so that we as sinners can obtain forgiveness for our sins and reconcile with God and the Church. The sacrament “washes us clean,” and renews us in Christ.
At MSW, we offer reconciliation twice a week, or by appointment. Our current schedule is:
Mary, Seat of Wisdom joyfully welcomes you to preparation for the Sacrament of Matrimony. Your decision to enter married life is a sign of love, hope and strength for our entire community.

Being called to the Priesthood is a calling to love - a larger, communal love of Christ and his Church. Ordained ministers serve the People of God by teaching, divine worship and pastoral governance. The ordained ministry is conferred in three degrees, or "orders"...bishops, presbyters, and deacons. The Church confers the sacrament of Holy Orders only on baptized men whose suitability for the ministry has been duly recognized.
