“Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
- Matthew 19:14
Every Sunday at the 9:30 and 11:00 AM Masses, we invite our young children to hear and reflect on the Scriptures at a level they can understand. After the initial prayers, the presider invites children from about 4 through 10 years old to gather at the foot of the altar. He blesses them and sends them from the church with their leaders. During Children’s Liturgy of the Word, all elements of the Mass are included– the Gospel reading, the psalm, a reflection, the Creed, and an intercessory prayer. When children are older and remain in church, the action will be familiar.
Parents are welcome to accompany children who may not be comfortable coming alone at first. Leaders read the Scriptures, lead prayers, and engage with the children in a reflection. Volunteers of all ages, from teens to mature adults, are welcome to join a team. At present, teams serve once every three weeks on a rotating schedule.
Come see what we are about!
