Anointing of the Sick

During the 9 a.m. Mass on the first Saturday of each month we offer the Sacrament of Anointing. All are welcome.

If you know someone who is in need of the Sacrament of Anointing outside of the Mass, please contact the rectory office at 847-825-3153

"Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint {him} with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven.

~James 5:14-15

The Sacrament of Healing, or Anointing the Sick, is a sacrament of strengthening, peace and courage to overcome the difficulties that go with the condition of serious illness of the frailty of old age. (CCC 1520)

Through the gift of grace given by the Holy Spirit, anointing renews trust and faith in God and strengthens against the temptation to discouragement and anguish in the face of suffering or death. Anointing brings peace and gives a new meaning to suffering by uniting us more closely to Christ's Passion, and participation in the saving work of Jesus.

Anointing will be available for any and all in need, especially those who are sick or suffering in any way—body, mind, or spirit.
