Join in the Mary, Seat of Wisdom Lenten Disciplines of Prayer, Fasting & Almsgiving
This year we are urging participation in "corporate" prayer, fasting, and almsgiving or works of mercy. In spirit, we will all join hearts and hands and share in these diciplines as a parish community.
Each Tuesday, we concentrate on one prayer
Each Wednesday, we will all fast from one thing together
Each Thursday, we will all work on one act of kindness or a giving of alms

Welcome to Mary, Seat of Wisdom Parish
Formally established in 1955, our parish owes its earliest beginnings to Saint Frances Cabrini, who helped foster the growing Catholic community in this area in the early days of the 20th Century when Park Ridge was mostly farmland. Today, we are a thriving community of over 2000 households, inspired in worship and service by the Second Vatican Council. One of the first things you’ll notice when walking into our recently remodeled church are the words of Scripture from our stained glass windows, designed by a founding member. The quotations on the windows remind us that God’s word is alive in us. Through worship, service, and shared faith we show forth the love of Christ entrusted to us.
As we leave church, we read, “I am the Vine, you are the branches,” moving us to bring this love out into the community by living the Gospel through ministries like Operation Friendship, which aids Epiphany Parish, our sharing parish; Julia Center, a local Catholic outreach center; and SuCasa,a Catholic Worker House in Chicago, and our Lenten almsgiving project.
From the Scripture on our windows to the many opportunities for worship, spiritual growth, justice, healing and reconciliation, our parish strives to be intentional in living the life of faith. I invite you to explore this website to discover the community of Mary, Seat of Wisdom. Here you will find information on parish life, celebrating the sacraments, learning how to participate in one or more of our 70 ministries and activities, as well as contact information for parish staff and the Archdiocese of Chicago. Join with us as we accept the challenge of Gospel living.
During the fall, our parish will undertake a 12 week initiative called the "Parish Transformation Process." A renewed focus on the mission of the parish and a plan to engage wider parish participation is the hoped for outcome. I invite you to be part of the process.
Fr. Jerry Gunderson
**Fr. Gunderson is on sabattical from January 5-July 5, 2015. In his absence, our parishioners share their faith experiences in "Savor the Sabbath" articles.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF
"THE DO SOMETHING WONDERFUL FOR GOD" CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
Thank you for your support of The Do Something Wonderful for God Capital Campaign. As we return to worship in our newly renovated Church, we will experience new life and energy in our worship enchanced by the physical improvements to our worship space. In addition, the campaign provided funds for some long-deferred maintenance projects in both the school and rectory. Due to some increased costs in our renovation efforts, additional funds are sought for the capital campaign to finalize improvements to our worship space. It is still possible to pledge your support by filling out and returning your Letter of Intent to support The Do Something Wonderful for God Capital Campaign. Gifts at all levels are appreciated. If you prefer, secure online contributions may be made at Give Central.org. Thank you!
